II Release Notes
====================================================
Last minute updates, changes, clarifications and details:

* Electronic Manual

An electronic PDF version of the manual can be found in the Titan Quest\Manual directory. It requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. An Acrobat installer is available in the Titan Quest\AdobeAcrobat directory.

* Upgrading Aura/Pet Skills

When you add skill points to an aura or pet skill, you must re-cast/re-summon before the upgrades will go into effect.

* Multiplayer Join Lobby Filter + Refresh

In the multiplayer server list:
If you type text into the filter box and then press "Refresh", Titan Quest will get a shortened server list from Gamespy, that contains only the results of your filter search. This feature is useful when a large number of games are available and the normal search method is slow.

To see a full game list afterwards, delete the filter text and press "Refresh" again.

(This information is repeated in the Multiplayer Help section below.)

* All your character saves, settings, and mod files will be located in the following directory: My Documents/My Games/Titan Quest/.

* Right-click Actions in the Merchant Window

You cannot apply or combine relics while in the Merchant Window.

You cannot drink potions by right-clicking on them in your inventory while in the Merchant Window.

* Skill/Mastery Undo and Confirm

Only the UNDO button in the Skill Window will cancel points placed into yours skills or mastery. Closing the window by pressing the "x" button in the top right corner or pressing the "Escape" button will CONFIRM the points you have placed.

* Lost Quest Items

If you lose an essential quest item (by dropping it and then quitting), you can always get the quest item again by quitting out of the current game session and starting a new one with your hero. You will need to return to the place you got the quest item, and, if won from a boss, you will need to defeat the boss again.

* Applying Relics & Charms to Epic and Legendary Items

You will be unable to apply a relic or charm to an epic or legendary item. These pieces of equipment already contain powerful magical bonuses and are not capable of being enchanted further.

* Skill Description Changes

The Circle of Power skill does not damage the undead as its description indicates.

The Lethal Strike skill can only be used with weapons which deliver pierce damage.

III Getting Started
====================================================

1. Introducing Titan Quest
Titan Quest is a fast-paced action-RPG set in the ancient world. Embark on an epic adventure drawn from classical history and myth, and build a unique hero out of 36 possible classes and over 1,000 pieces of unique equipment available.

Playing Titan Quest is as easy as left clicking. A left click will cause your hero to move, attack, talk, and pick up items. Assign extra attacks, skills, and potions to the right mouse button and the Quickbar by right-clicking on each slot, and choosing from the menu that pops up.

In Titan Quest, you can play the same character in both single and multiplayer, so there's never any need to duplicate or start a character over.

2. Getting into the Game
You can go from your desktop to playing Titan Quest in under 60 seconds:

- From the main game menu, select "Play Titan Quest". You will be prompted to create a character.
- Select Male or Female, a name, and a tunic color, and select "Create".
- Select the "Start" button on the bottom right of the screen.
- You're off!

3. Learning to Play
If you are new to action-RPGs, or to games in general, pay careful attention to the Tutorial pop-ups. Feel free to close the Tutorial Window -- the next tip will bring it up again. You can also access the Tutorial Window at any time by clicking on the ? button on the lower right of the game interface. Scroll back through previous Tutorial tips using the arrows at the top of the window.

For further help with Titan Quest, consult the manual included in the game box. The Titan Quest manual contains detailed information on all aspects of the game.

All gamers should pay attention to the help on Masteries and Skills, after a character levels up and the first Mastery is chosen. The Titan Quest class system is powerful and flexible once you are familiar with the interface.

If you do not find the answer you are looking for in the in-game tutorial or the game manual, please visit

IV Multiplayer Help
====================================================
1. Joining a Multiplayer Game
From the main game menu
- Select "Play Titan Quest"
- From the window in the top right corner, select "Join Multiplayer"
- Choose or create a new character
- Select "Start". A list of multiplayer games will be displayed. Choose a valid, available game.
- When the game you want is highlighted, select "Start".

Selecting a game will show details about the players and length of game session in the bar on the right. You can only join games of the same difficulty level as your character. Standard characters cannot join maps other than the main "Titan Quest" campaign -- they must be exported (see the Mod Support section in this document or the player manual). Mod characters can never play the main "Titan Quest" campaign.

Filter Feature:

When you enter the join game list, all games available on Gamespy will be shown. If you know the name of a game that you want to join, begin to type the name into the Filter text box. If the game does not come up right away, press the "Refresh" button. Doing a refresh when you have entered filter text will do a quick get from the Gamespy server, and return only games that match the search. Delete the filter text and refresh again to show all games available.

2. Hosting a Multiplayer Game
It is important to remember that when you host a game of Titan Quest, your personal computer is acting a server for all players who enter your game world. If you plan to play with friends, whoever has the system that is fastest, has the most RAM memory, and the best internet connection should host.

From the main game menu
- Select "Play Titan Quest"
- From the window in the top right corner, select "Host Multiplayer"
- In the window that appears, you must enter a game name. Change max players and level range as desired. Entering a password will password protect your session of Titan Quest.
- Select "Start" to begin. Others will join your session after it has loaded.

3. Playing in Multiplayer
a. Parties
When playing Titan Quest in multiplayer mode, it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you join them in a party. Partied players shared experience, gold, and progress on common quests. If you play with unpartied players, quests may not be completeable in that game (but can be continued if you quit and enter another game session).

To party with other players
- Open the Party Window (default shortcut key: P)
- select another player's name and press the "Invite" button
- The invited player will be asked if they want to join. You will be notified when they accept or decline.

b. Chat
You can talk to other players in multiplayer using the chat system. Use the Chat Window icon or the shortcut key (default: T). Use the "Speak To..." button to select who you want to talk to, or use these chat commands:

/a Chat to all players in game
/p Chat to party members only
/t <player name>	Chat to player with that name
/r Respond to last chat message

c. Trade
When you are near a party member, you can trade with them directly. To trade with a party member, right click on their portrait (below yours, on the left-hand side of the screen), and select Trade from the menu.

When you are trading
- The left-hand side is your offering
- Both players must accept the trade
- Moving, adding, or removing any item un-accepts the trade for both players
- You cannot trade if there is not enough space in your inventory to hold your received trade
- If a trade is cancelled, all items are returned to your inventory

d. Quests in Multiplayer
You should be able to play quests in multiplayer more or less the same as you can in singleplayer mode. There are just a few points that you need to know:

- ALWAYS PARTY! You will not share quest state with non-partied players.
- You share quests with party-members that are on the same quest. Quest-related monster kills are shared; when any member of a party talks to a quest NPC or gets a quest-item, the team gets credit.
- Multiple copies of Quest items will generally be available.

If you are playing with non-partied players or with party-members who have completed guests ahead of you *in that game session*, your Quest Log may say that you cannot complete a quest in the current game. You should generally be able to continue playing (with the quest incomplete), and the quest can always be completed by leaving the game, and starting or joining a new game with your character.

V  Mod Support
====================================================

Create your own epic adventures with the Titan Quest mod tools! The tool suite, along with documentation, are installed by default with Titan Quest. Look for them in the Titan Quest Start Menu folder under THQ/Titan Quest/Toolset/.

2. Improving Performance
Titan Quest settings should be automatically tuned to your system specifications. If the game performs poorly at the default settings, experiment with lowering various graphics options.

Try lowering these options first:

- Resolution: Titan Quest looks great even at lower resolutions. If you do not have a high end video card, try running in 1024x768 or even 800x600.
- Shadows and Reflections: These features will have a smaller impact on the visual quality of Titan Quest. Try lowering these before you lower Detail Level setting. The shadow setting has more of an effect than reflections.
- Detail Level can have the biggest impact on game performance, but also affects the overall quality of all Titan Quest visuals.

3. Widescreen Resolutions
Some of the available resolutions listed under video options are designed for widescreen displays. This is noted to the right of the screen size. Selecting a widescreen resolution for a normal display, or vice versa, will result in distorted game visuals.

4. Video Drivers
You should make sure that you have the latest version of your video card drivers and DirectX. If you own an NVidia or ATI video card, download and install the latest drivers through their website:

	www.ati.com
	www.nvidia.com

Get the latest version of DirectX at the following URL:

	www.microsoft.com/windows/directx

5. Audio Issues

a. Latest drivers required

Please make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card when running Titan Quest.

b. Combat sounds appear to not be playing or play very quietly:

This situation can happen if your computer is configured for a 5.1 surround system and you only have a 2.1 system attached. Please make sure you have your proper speaker configuration set in the windows Sounds and Audio Devices control panel. This setting can be found on the "Volume" tab under the "Advanced..." button.
